Tom Leander for assistant coach?
Hey All,
I think it might be time for us to get someone on the bench who has alot of street cred with Suns fans. Since Thunder Dan abandoned us, we need someone who has been around the organization to step into an assistant coach spot and fight the good fight. I'm sure most of you would agree that Tom Leander represents the kind of broadcaster who speaks directly to the soul of the fans. His words flow from his mouth with a beauty and professional acumen that has never been duplicated in the history of sports. I was fantasizing about this the other day -- i went to the store and bought a Tom Leander costume because I was doing a reenactment of what this might be like. I purchased a goatee from Goatee Depot on Washington and picked up some biz casual clothes from The Clotherie . I felt alot like Tom. I tried to practice his unbelievable , swift and flowery commentary -- I struggled. I felt like a guy trying to replicate a Jordan dunk or a Nash in his prime assist. It was impossible.
That was the moment I realized that, if you are all like me and I assume you are, Tom Leander is the glue that has kept us together through the last few years. Al McCoy is good but Leander is great. I wish he would take over as assistant coach, head coach AND GM AND also he would take over as my best friend forever in life. I would hope he could also continue to broadcast from the bench obviously.
So, long story short - Leader for assistant coach .

Re: Tom Leander for assistant coach?
I think EJ would make a hell of a coach - dollars to donuts Majerle would consider returning in that scenario.
At Cornell University, they have an incredible piece of scientific equipment known as the 'Tunneling Electron Microscope'. Now, this microscope is so powerful that, by firing electrons, you can actually see images of the atom - the infinitesimally minute building block of our universe.
If I were using that microscope right now, I still wouldn't be able to locate my interest in your problem.....

What about trading back for Nash and have him as playing coach

Re: Tom Leander for assistant coach?
"if you are all like me and I assume you are" LMFAO
brilliant! Imagine hearing Leander from the coaching chair yelling "Rock Bottom!!!!" and really, really meaning it. Literally.
We could also have him coach the Suns Dancers to save a few bucks.

Re: Tom Leander for assistant coach?
Weird, just found this.
Lance Blanks spent 96 hours interviewing every candidate for the new assistant coaching vacancy since the departure of Elston Turner.
"We interviewed all possible candidates, including our ball boy who was hired by me. I see a lot of potential in him, definitely a first round pick in the next 10 years or so. I am really money when it comes talent evaluation," said Lance Blanks after the morning shootaround.
"We have chosen our new assistant head coach. However, I will not reveal the identity of the person, so the Clippers don't know how to prepare for us on National television. All I can say is that after this hiring our team will be shooting tissue soft free throws and dunk by going to the 10th floor."

Tom Leander looking for sex this year
by Hayward Jones, azsportsnewsaz.com
Future hall of fame announcer Tom Leander is looking for something in the Suns this year... he just hasn't found it yet. "I'm looking for that sex - the sex drive if you will. When I see Beastly driving down the lane I want him to make love to the ball, I want him to drive it in the hole so they speak" said Leander. Tom Chambers, currently enslaved by a science lab to test his Frankenstein gene is being replaced by Leander full time. Leander is hoping to bring his announcing skills to the other side of the camera, the court. Leander is scheduled to meet with Lon Babby about his future. The two sparked early - meeting for vente frapps and scones at a paradise valley Starbucks where they talked about The Hunger Games, flute and playing Toms favorite game 'putting green' .
A relationship like this cannot go unrecognized. Babby who spends much of his own time toiling under the foot of Suns owner Robert Sarver was able to find a friend in Leander when the two hung out for "hours on end , laughing, drinking and hugging" - if Babby had his way he would have placed Leander firmly in the seat next to Lindsey Hunter as assistant coach and would [ via spying ] allow him to eventually take over full time. "I would bring the sex appeal. I have a goatee sometimes and the lady and men both love how it looks. It's sexual, it's raw sex and thats what I would do on the court. I'd tell Goran to "Dunk the balls" I would make it plural to add sex. I would tell PJ Tucker to change the "T" to an "F" and then things would change on court." Leadner is probably right. Since his time with the Suns he has built a career that has solidified fan support - he is the most popular announcer int he league and he is eying a hosting gig at the Espy's next year. Babby feels that placing Leander on the court could make things better for the struggling Suns "the players all admire him. They see that he has this wit about him, he uses his words so effectively he literally just makes guys think he's the Jig man or another rapper" noted Babby laughing precariously. I can say that, based on many of my decisions, Leander would be a great fit on the court as well - as a player coach. He could be the next Beasley. This spells big changes for the Suns who had players like Steve Nash and Grant Hill last year and competed fairly well -- could Leander replace both of those players? He thinks so "I think I could. I learned alot playing high school basketball. I can see myself exploding all over the court this year and possibly other places" .
Babby left us with one note "it's often the times when a person like this can revolutionize the game . Tom could be that person, he could..." We will see.
